COVID/FLU VACCINATION PROGRAMME

Flu Vaccination Programme Autumn/Winter 2023

We will be running our first combined adult flu and COVID-19 autumn booster vaccination clinics on Thursday 5th October and Saturday 7th October. Further clinics will be opened later in the month. If you are eligible, you will receive an SMS text message with a booking link, or a letter.

You will be eligible for an NHS flu vaccine if you are aged over 65 or in a vulnerable group. Vulnerable groups include: people with certain underlying health conditions, pregnant people, carers, household contacts of people with immunosuppression, and care home residents and staff.

For more information, visit www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/flu-influenza-vaccine

If you or your relative are in a care home, you do not need to contact us to arrange a flu vaccination. We will be visiting each of our care homes, starting from early October.

If you or your relative are housebound and unable to attend the medical centre, we will contact you to arrange to vaccinate you at home. If we have not previously vaccinated you at home, please contact us to ensure that you are on our list.

This year, NHS England have made the decision that NHS flu vaccinations will NOT be offered to healthy people aged 50 to 64. If you wish to be vaccinated but you are not eligible for a free NHS flu vaccination, many high-street pharmacies offer private flu vaccinations for a small fee.

We will also be offering flu vaccinations to children aged 2-3, and children under 18 who are in a vulnerable group. Clinics will be opened later in the season. We will be sending invitations by SMS text message with a booking link, or letter. You may also receive an invitation from the NHS – if so, you can contact us to get booked in.

Please note that school-aged children who are not in a vulnerable group will receive their flu vaccination from the school immunisation team. We are not able to offer flu vaccinations to this group at the medical centre. If your child has missed their flu vaccination at school, or is not currently attending school, please contact the school immunisation team on 0300 790 0594. For more info, visit www.eput.nhs.uk/children-s-vaccines/

We will also be offering COVID-19 Autumn booster vaccinations to people aged over 65, or in a vulnerable group. If you are eligible, you will be able to have your COVID-19 booster at the same time as your flu vaccination.
